Here we are going to explain what punishable offence in this section is and how much has imprisonment or fine under section 496.


Marriage ceremony fraudulently gone through without lawful marriage: in this section states that whoever, dishonestly or with a fraudulent intention, goes through the ceremony of being married, knowing that he is not thereby lawfully married, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.


Offence: A person with fraudulent intention going through the ceremony of being married knowing that he is not thereby lawfully married

Punishment - 7 Years + Fine

this is a Bailable, Non-Cognizable offence and Triable by Magistrate First Class.
