Here we are going to explain what is punishable offence in this section and how much has imprisonment or fine under section 335 (IPC).


Voluntarily causing grievous hurt on provocation: In this section states that Whoever voluntarily causes grievous hurt on grave and sudden provoca­tion, if he neither intends nor knows himself to be likely to cause grievous hurt to any person other than the person who gave the provocation, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to four years, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both.

Explanation-The last two sections are subject to the same provisos as Explanation 1, section 300.


Offence: Causing grievous hurt on Grave and sudden provocation, not intending to hurt and other than the person who gave the provocation

Punishment: 4 Years or Fine or Both

This is a Bailable, Cognizable offence and Triable by Magistrate First Class

Offence is Compoundable by: The person to whom the hurt is caused
